Full Dentures

Full dentures can be fitted once the gum tissue has healed following extractions, or immediate dentures can be provided on the same day as the remaining teeth are removed, so that you are never without teeth.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They fill in the gaps left by missing teeth and are designed to clip or clasp onto the remaining teeth for stability. Partial dentures can be made from acrylic (plastic) or metal frameworks with acrylic teeth, and the best option for you will depend on the number and position of the missing teeth.

Getting Used to Your Dentures
It is completely normal to need a little time to adjust to wearing dentures, especially if you are a first-time wearer. Most people find that these sensations reduce as they get used to wearing them, usually within a few weeks.

Caring for Your Dentures
Proper care of your dentures will help them last longer, stay clean, and keep your mouth healthy. Remove your dentures at night to give your gum tissue a rest, and soak them in a denture cleaning solution or plain water while you sleep. This also helps to prevent the dentures from drying out and warping.
Clean your dentures daily using a soft brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner. Do not use regular toothpaste, as it can scratch the surface. Even with full dentures, continue to clean your gums, tongue, and the roof of your mouth with a soft brush each morning to stimulate circulation and remove bacteria.
Eating and Speaking with Dentures
When you first receive your dentures, we recommend starting with soft foods cut into small pieces and chewing slowly on both sides of the mouth. As you become more confident, you will be able to eat a wider range of foods. Some foods such as very hard or sticky items may always require more care.
